War.gov/UFO - Initial Release Highlights
The administration has made good on its promise
In February, President Trump first announced that he’d directed the War Department to begin releasing information on UAP, UFOs, and Aliens:
On Friday, May 8th, hundreds of files were published at war.gov/ufo1. Much of it was similar to what had already come out, infrared photos and videos of unusual but not obviously alien objects. However, the best bits of information do move the evidentiary needle. The highlights:
1) UFO Sightings by the Apollo 11 Crew:
During the post-mission debrief, all the Apollo 11 astronauts agreed they saw a cylindrical UFO from their spacecraft:
This is interesting for a few reasons:
Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins are not just any witnesses; they are among the most important people in human history. Beware of doubting their credibility.
The transcript is from an officially recorded debriefing conducted within a week of their return from space. All the astronauts are present and agree they saw something cylindrical in space, with no explanation.
The document has been kept hidden for 55 years. This could be understandable for highly classified programs, but Apollo is the highest-profile and most widely publicized technical endeavor of all time. This section of the transcripts contains nothing sensitive aside from the UFO testimony, so why has its release taken so long?
2) Triangle UFO in an Apollo 17 Photo
Apollo 17 was the last time a man was on the moon, and of all the Apollo UFO photos, it’s the most remarkable:
The three dots form a shape consistent with an equilateral-triangle-shaped object pointing slightly away from the camera.
That’s notable because a triangle shape is less likely to be a camera artifact. The dots in other Apollo UFO photos are random enough to be camera noise.2 However, it’s unlikely for some of the few bits of noise to happen to form the shape of a triangle.
Interestingly, triangles are a known UFO shape, and even have their own Wikipedia page. The UK government featured one as the cover photo of a now-declassified UAP memo from Dec 2000:
Similarly, why were these Apollo records hidden for so long? Historical photos with UFOs in them being hidden by the US government imply that they hide these sorts of things.
3) Clip of UFO Flying Between Wind Turbines
In this video, a UFO flies with wind turbines in the background, giving an unusually good reference for its motion:
The wind turbines are sharp, suggesting that the UFO is indeed a glowing ball of light rather than a fuzzy blur due to poor camera resolution.
Also, the UFO flies between and behind the turbines, indicating that the motion isn’t just parallax caused by the camera platform's movement: it’s really flying among the towers.
Finally, from the turbine’s size and spacing, there is an approximate scale to help estimate the UFO’s speed and acceleration. While the video’s location hasn’t been positively identified yet, when it is, there will be definitive data on just how fast this object was moving.
This release is just the first of many, and rumor has it that it’s only going to get better.

Cosmic rays, which are normally shielded by the Earth’s atmosphere and magnetic field, are known to cause visual effects in astronauts, so random dots are less convincing.
